Oct Meeting speaker “Confessions of a Bucktail Junkie.”
Billy “The Greek” Legakis, a legendary big bass aficionado, has stated that a bucktail is all he needs. Militaries from multiple countries place the bucktail in survival kits for naval aviators. Member Steve Gressak, Puppet to those of you who frequent the club’s message board, will be discussing the bucktail at the next CSA membership meeting. Interestingly, Pat Abate has dubbed Steve “The Bucktail Whisperer.”
Most of us have heard or read about the circumstances where a bucktail is about the only thing in your bag that will be presentable because of large surf, sweep or current.
Steve will share his motivation and experience bucktailing for about a decade here in the Northeast. He will share how, when and why he will fish a bucktail in situations where most of us may choose to throw something else. In many scenarios the bucktail is the first thing out of Steve’s bag, and is the most deadly form in his arsenal. This will be a great talk. Steve is very smart and very thoughtful in his approach. He thinks outside of the “bag” when it comes to bucktailing. For most of us, this is uncharted territory, a place where we really can learn something new and really add new tactics and techniques. The Bucktail Whisperer will be speaking at the Wednesday Oct 2ndmembership meeting at the Surf Club in Madison. Join us!
